Today, I want to talk about something I don’t normally talk about – snacking.
I have always been a snacker. Sometimes you just hit such a low during the day that you need something to snack on. Something to give you that energy boost, that sugar high to get you through the day. I have no qualms in admitting that I am usually the first one to run to that unhealthy bar of chocolate (or two) when I get to that stage. It’s usually not healthy or the sensible option and that is something I have wanted to change for a long time.
I have been experimenting with my snacking recently. Trial and error has taught me that fruits and nuts just don’t do it for me – it’s not easy to admit but it’s true. That’s not to say, I don’t eat apples or cashew nuts. I still have a banana with my lunch everyday but when I need that real energy kick, an apple never works for me. All that experimenting has helped me find something that actually works – Nākd Bars. I absolutely love these cereal bars – they are made out of 100% natural ingredients with no added sugars or syrups – it’s just raw fruits and nuts mixed together into a bite sized bar. It’s also wheat, dairy and gluten free; if that matters to you.
I have been snacking on these healthier alternative instead of my usual bar of Snickers or Boost the last couple of weeks and it really does the job minus all the extra calories. That being said, just like everything else in life, they are great if consumed in moderation. Everything said and done, these bars still pack in about 135 calories and about 15 grams of sugar per bar. Yes, natural sugar but still sugar nonetheless. So I have also been trying to stick to one bar a day (if I need it) and that works for me.
I also get bored with my food very easily – I cannot stand eating the same thing over and over. Variety is the spice of life after all eh? With Nākd Bars, I never have that issue with over 11 different options to choose from. They even have a Christmas Pud and a Bakewell Tart bar! But my favourite has to be the Rhubard and Custard Nākd bar – it’s absolutely delish.
Here is to healthy snacking!
