I have been in Delhi for the last 5 days enjoying everything that this beautiful capital city has to offer. It’s one of my favourite cities in the world but this post isn’t about Delhi, it’s about The Leela Palace in the heart of the city which has been home these last few days.
I have stayed in some great hotels but The Leela Palace is in a class of its own and really is something special. It is consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in the world. It is also the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice 2014 winner for the best luxury hotel in the world. Staying here, I can definitely see why!
Situated in the affluent are of Chanakyapuri, the diplomatic enclave of Delhi, this hotel stands tall in between all the embassies and the well manicured lawns of Delhi.
I absolutely love the lobby, it’s not over the top but it’s still refined and grand.
You don’t ‘check in’ to the hotel in the traditional sense, the team here were prepared when we arrived and took us straight to our room where we signed forms etc. Let me show you my room, it is absolutely amazing!
Aanchal, Seb and I obviously jumped up and down on the bed to make sure it was sleep worthy and guess what, it was! 🙂
And the room comes with your own personal butler. Yes please!
They even have a pillow menu, yes a pillow MENU! You have a pillow specialist who helps you choose the right kind of pillow to help you sleep well. They had over 20 options on offer – I didn’t even know you could do 20 types of pillows! My favourite was a pillow for kids made out of horse hair.
The bathroom is just as grand with gold plated vintage chandeliers and beautiful his and her sinks. My favourite feature has to be the television above the jacuzzi. I have always wanted a TV in my bathroom. Dreams do come true! 🙂
And the toiletries are just as nice. Penhaligon’s anyone?
Being the foodie I am, my favourite thing about my room has to be the cookie jar, with some of the most amazing fresh cookies I have ever tasted. And what’s even better – it’s replenished twice daily. I don’t think I know where the gym in this hotel is though.
Everywhere you turn, you cannot not take a photo, it’s such a well designed hotel. Seb, Aanchal and I have been snap happy snapping everything we see.
The infinity pool on the roof top is absolutely amazing. I love coming up here and watching the sunset in the evening. Isn’t it just beautiful?
And the view gets better as it gets darker.
The Leela Palace is so very Indian – I love the small Indian touches, like the gold leaf on the Danish pastries and the ornate traditional Indian silver cutlery.
I am going to miss this place when I check out and head back home. It really has been a home away from home and the service is absolutely exceptional. The perfect base to explore the bustling sights and sounds of this capital city. It’s nice to come back every evening and enjoy the Indian inspired gardens here – gets you ready and replenished for another day of exploring.
I think I have found my new favourite hotel in the world.
There I said it.
